Installation
Instructions: If this hardware fitting is being purchased as a hardware option to be field-installed, please take great care. The installation of Star Case recessed fittings is most easily performed by carefully removing the defective assembly you're replacing. Carefully drill out all rivets attaching the recessed dish assembly using a 3/16" drill bit. Carefully place new catch/dish assembly into void created by removal of old assembly. Place rivets in holes accordingly, back with steel washers then drive pop rivets. Remember, proper alignment of both assembly halves is important to proper case function. |
Limitations: The recessed twist/hasp locking catch does not overlap aluminum corner angle extrusion, thus limiting case inside lid height to 3" and case lower section inside height to a minimum of 5-5/16" on ATA-1/4" or ATA- 3/8" cases and 5-7/8" on Super or Ultra Star Cases. Remember, if your case is an ATA Star-1/4" or Super Star case, the recessed dish will protrude 1/2" into case interior. If ATA-3/8", dish will protrude 3/8" into case interior and, if 1/2" Ultra Star, it will protrude 1/4" into case interior. |
| Attachment to Case: The recessed twist/hasp catch is attached by means of heavy-duty aluminum rivets backed with metal washers. Entire locking catch assembly is installed into a precision cut, pre-routed opening of exceptionally tight tolerance. |
